What Does MLM Success and Your Golf Handicap Have in Common?
As an avid golfer who in fact spent 10 years or more as a Golf Professional sometimes we are open to things of inspiration.
My wife believes the inspiration comes from different areas but that’s a different story.
Think about it. The similarities in golfing handicaps and the way players think are astounding or at least it is for me.
What is your business or MLM handicap?
You see, just like your development in golf, MLM success hunters often seem to forget that success does not come overnight.
Your level of improvement will never be fast enough in your own eyes. For long term results there is no substitute for practice and a good work ethic. Patience is a virtue and starting an MLm is just like starting your golf career.
In the past I have taught many players who want to be professional. There has been just as many simply wishing to be competitive or to not make fool of themselves.
Unfortunately very few people really understand what it takes to achieve the results they aspired to.
Even with professional coaching some people would simply turn up every week looking for new answers having done nothing to improve their long term skills in the time between. Sorry everyone, there are no short cuts.
It does not work
There is a price to pay and the price is practice and your ability to improve your skills.
You will need to identify areas of your game that need improvement and then practice it until it is at the level you require. Once completed, it’s onto the next skill range. Learning never stops.
Seeing the similarities to MLM success yet?
It took me thousands upon thousands of hours to fine tune a game and an attitude that thought it was already good and compared to some it probably was.
If you want to be average, do what average people do but if you want to excel you need to do what others refuse or are too lazy to do. It’s that simple and there are no short cuts.
Back to handicaps in your chosen professions.
You have beginners and this is where horrendous mistakes are made but to be honest all you are really trying to do is hit the ball, get some consistency and not embarrass yourself.
There is the occasional good result but the errors are still there along with the accompanying levels of frustration.
Rome was not built in a day.
About now, the tendency is to throw the towel as it obviously not as easy as it thought it would be.
The more you do it, the better you will get. Stick with your coach; they have been through it all before. Nobody is born with the skills; there is a process when it comes to learning.
At an intermediate level you will get some massive results with improvement coming in leaps and bounds right across the board and confidence and belief rises rapidly.
Enjoy the feeling whilst you can. There is a plateau is on the way and it happens to everyone in just about everything we are learning.
Think of it this way. One good shot doesn’t make a good hole. One good hole doesn’t make a good round. One good round doesn’t make a tournament. One good tournament doesn’t make a year and one good year doesn’t make your career!
It’s about the consistency of your effort
Everything seems to slow down as you understand the need to focus on what your strengths and weaknesses are.
You are now “A” grade material and are looked upon as competitive and very competent.
The title of scratch golfer now beckons. You are amongst the best of the amateurs but there is another level to go and it provides the biggest challenge of them al. Professional.
This is for the elite, the people who commit all they have, the ones who understand the mind sets needed for constant success. It is the level where the big bucks are made. Your dream.
Practice and learning are now second nature.
Your skills are now amongst the top tier and it is now the power of the mind that sets you apart.
Set your goals and have a clear vision of what you want to achieve, commit to the price of practice and chase your dreams with everything you have. You’re a professional!
Are you a professional with the skills and a mindset to match the very top players in the game?
This process did not take days, weeks or months. It took years of dedication. Don’t beat yourself up if your success has not come at the speed you had hoped. Perceive it, believe it and achieve it.
Success is not a race.
